CENSUS 2020

Cotopaxi School District is better when everybody counts, and the district has partnered with the U.S. Census Bureau to support the 2020 Census count in Fremont County.

As a partner, we will be working to ensure that Fremont County is accurately counted and represented, with a goal of reaching residents with important and helpful information about the Census.

If Fremont County does not get an accurate count of its citizens, our county can lose out on many vital services.

Census Timeline
  • March 12-20: Initial invitations to respond online and by phone delivered by the U.S. Postal Service (Internet First). Areas that are less likely to respond online receive a paper questionnaire with online or phone invitations (Internet Choice).
  • March 16-24: Reminder letters delivered.
  • March 26-April 3: Reminder postcards delivered to households that haven't responded.
  • April 8-16: Reminder letters and paper questionnaires delivered to households that haven't responded.
  • April 20-27: Final reminder postcards delivered to households that haven't yet responded, before census takers follow up in person.
  • May 13-July 31: If a household does not respond to any invitations, a census taker will follow up in person.
Everyone gets the first two mailings. The next three are dependent on completing a response.
