Cotopaxi Schools Instructional & Alternative Learning Methods

Letter from the Principal
To all Cotopaxi parents,

I want to apologize for not getting this information to you on Thursday, but as you know, it’s been busy around the school. The COVID-19 crisis has brought about many changes and has challenged educators across the nation to adapt and do things differently to meet the needs of their students. I am confident that our staff is up to the task and the struggles we are currently experiencing will make us better at what we do and draw us closer together as a family.  Earlier this week Governor Polis announced the extension of the school closing date to April 17. This means that students will be able to return to school as “normal” on April 20. This is making the assumption that no further cancellations are issued.

On March 30, there will be information sent online for those that have internet access and packets created for those who do not have online access. Each week, there will be packets available for pick up at the school and also when the food bags are distributed. A vital piece to the class assignments being sent online is that we have email addresses that are correct. If your email address has changed recently, please share that information with the school. The class assignments/activities will be completed by the students and sent back to their teachers via the internet or returned to the school when picking up the next packet. Communication by teachers will occur as to the student’s performance on assignments and their status in class.  Please be sure to check updates through goedustar as well.

This is a different process in how we’ve done things in the past and I’m sure areas of our process will need to be tweaked to make it as effective as possible. Please be patient and let us know if there's an area that needs to be improved. As always, our goal as a school is to meet the needs of our students to the best of our abilities.

The information listed below is a general description of how each teacher will be communicating the students’ class assignments/activities.

It’s during crisis times when a person’s true character comes out. We’re just at the beginning of this and currently, we’re looking at a month more. Hang in there with us. As I stated earlier, let us know if you have a question or if something needs to be improved.

Sincerely,
Ken Eckelberry- Principal
