Principal Newsletter 3-13-23

Dear Cotopaxi Community,

Spring Break is next week, March 20th-23rd, my how time flies!  Speaking of time, reminder we are officially Spring forward for daylight savings time.  With more sunshine later on in the day and warmer temperatures, we tend to have more students staying after school to play basketball, and play on the playground.  As a friendly reminder there is not any staff supervision past 4:05 p.m. (end of school day).  For safety reasons, please ensure your child is supervised by a parent/guardian or is picked up by 4:05.  As a school community, we want to ensure that all students are monitored and safe.  Thank you for your cooperation.

With Spring weather comes field trips, field days, and more outdoor activities during our school day!  If you are interested in volunteering for any upcoming events please contact your child’s teacher.  As part of our volunteer procedure, attending a volunteer general training session, obtaining fingerprints and/or a background check are the necessary steps prior to volunteering.  Another upcoming general volunteer training session will be offered at the beginning of April.  We welcome opportunities for school volunteers, always. Stay tuned.

I’d like to thank you for attending our parent/teacher conferences on Friday, 3.10.23.  If you were unable to attend please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher for a meeting.  We are also happy to accommodate phone and virtual conferences as well.

This Tuesday, Amanda Cornelius our Fremont Multidistrict Coordinator will be meeting with incoming 11th and 12th graders regarding pathway options via FMI.  Some of the pathways include: Agriculture, Automotive, Computer Information Systems, Education, Healthcare.  In addition, all incoming 9-12th graders will review our course catalog for the 2023-24 school year.  We encourage students and families to review the course catalog together, as high school students will be working on creating their class schedule for next school year when they return from Spring Break.  If you  have any questions regarding courses, please contact Cindy Beal, school counselor at: cbeal@cotopaxire3.org

Our School Nurse, Sarah Adams has constructed a by county resource guide (Fremont, Chaffee, Custer), https://tinyurl.com/3nyn5b82  Feel free to share and utilize. Thank you Sarah for this wealth of information.

I hope to see you this week at our upcoming baseball games, track meet, or at our District Accountability Committee meeting.  May you all have a wonderful week, and Spring Break.

Yours in Education,

Jennifer Gonzales
