Principal Newsletter 10-31-23

Dear Cotopaxi Families,

As October comes to a close, I’d like to thank you for your continued support in education.  There have been so many of you that attended our first Student-Led-Conferences, and volunteered to assist with our Fall Festival last weekend.  It was great to feel the community energy at our Fall Festival, thank you for attending and for PTC’s help in making it such a fun-filled event!  Many of you also come out to our sports games, and volunteer and support our athletic programming as well.  From your help with school supplies donations, and snack donations, to chaperoning, and more!  We can’t thank you enough for your help.  We look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events.  Please stay apprised of all things Cotopaxi Schools by accessing our school app via Smartphone or Google Play.

We are celebrating Excellence in Attendance this school year, a goal from our developed strategic five year plan.  What’s a strategic plan?  Please see the Cotopaxi's Strategic Plan HERE.  We are excited to share more of our strategic plan soon!  Last quarter students with Excellence in Attendance had the opportunity to be entered in an additional P.R.I.D.E. prize drawing (Positive Attitude, Respect, Determination, Excellence).  Excellence doesn't mean perfection, but rather striving toward our core values, our mission and vision.   Stay tuned for more on our strategic plan.

As a staffing update, we will be accepting school nurse applications to fill a position for this school year.  We are working towards ensuring all our students are supported in the interim.  Administration is working toward increasing staff delegation to administer medication, and working on additional plans in the meantime for a School Nurse.  Please reach out to Jgonzales@cotopaxire3.org and/or ggerk@cotopaxire3.org should you have any questions.

A friendly reminder that we have an upcoming community meeting on Wednesday 11.1.23 with Dr. Henry Roman from McPherson And Jacobson to gather community input regarding our future superintendent at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria.  Your voice matters, and we look forward to seeing you there!

If you are interested in volunteering for Cotopaxi School’s this school year please begin by completing this years' volunteer application, and submit to Natasha our front office manager at, ndavis@cotopaxire3.org. A fingerprint or background check will follow.

A lot to look forward to in Pirate Land! As always feel free to reach out should you have any questions, concerns, or feedback.

Yours in Education,

Jennifer Gonzales
