School Board Elections - District Director D and E
District D and E Director Seats are open for the election on November 4, 2025.
The Cotopaxi School District in the County of Fremont, Colorado has two seats that are up for election on the Board of Education. To be qualified a candidate must have been a registered elector of the school district for at least 12 consecutive months before the election and a resident of the District D or E.
Potential candidates are now allowed to canvas for signatures and register as a candidate with the Colorado Secretary of State. Candidates need to complete a notarized affidavit that is available at the school.
A person is ineligible to run for the school director if he/she has been convicted of committing a sexual offense against a child. Please submit both documents to the superintendent by August 29, 2025.
To check if you are a qualified candidate in District D or E, please contact the Cotopaxi School Office. A Master Chart is available in the school administration office for viewing by interested persons between the hours of 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday through Thursday. District D is defined as:
Director District D: Beginning at the point of the northeast corner of Director District A (NE corner of S9 in T49N, R1 1E), thence along the north boundary of Director District A to the NE corner of S12, thence north along the western boundary of Fremont RE-3 District to the northern district boundary (Fremont / Park County line) and continuing eastward along the northern District boundary to the NE corner of the Fremont RE-3 boundary (eastern side of S1, T51N, R12E), thence southeasterly along said boundary to the eastern boundary of S2, T48N, R72W, thence south to the point of intersection with Copper Gulch Road, thence south to the point of intersection with Road Gulch Road (CR 28), thence westerly along Road Gulch Road (CR 28) to the point of intersection with Highway 69, thence northerly along Highway 69 (extended north to the Arkansas River) to the point of intersection with the Arkansas River, thence running upstream on the Arkansas River to the SE corner of Director District A (Vallie Bridge), thence north following the eastern boundary of Director District A to the point of beginning.
District E is defined as:
Director District E: Beginning at the point of intersection of Boyd Road (CR13X) and Road Gulch Road (CR 28), thence south along Boyd Road (CR13X) to a point of intersection with CR12X, thence southwesterly along CR12X to a point of intersection with CR10X, thence south to a point of intersection with Reed Road (CR29), thence southwesterly along Reed Road (CR29) to a point of intersection with the southern boundary of Fremont RE-3 District (Fremont / Custer County line), thence easterly along the Fremont / Custer County line to the furthermost SE corner of Fremont RE-3 District (SE corner of $36, T47N, R72W), thence north along the eastern boundary of Fremont RE-3 District to the NE corner of Fremont RE-3 District (SE corner S34,T48N, R72W), thence westerly along the established boundary of Fremont RE-3 District to the eastern boundary of Director District D (S2, T48N, R72W), thence south along the eastern boundary of Director District D to the point of intersection with Road Gulch Road (CR 28), thence westerly along Road Gulch Road (CR 28) to the point of beginning.
