Graduation is an exciting occasion and we want the best program for our students and families. We want to continue the tradition of commencement ceremonies at the Cotopaxi School, and to promote this, we have carefully outlined some important information:
GRADUATION PRACTICE
- Friday, May 28th at the Cotopaxi School Football Field
- Practice begins at 6:00 PM
GRADUATION CEREMONY
- Saturday, May 29th 2021 at the Cotopaxi School Football Field
- Graduating Seniors report to the High School Commons at 9:00 AM
- Ceremony begins at 10:30 AM
- Families will sit in a designated section
COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER
The ceremony will feature remarks by Admiral Michelle Howard. Michelle Howard was the first woman to achieve the rank of four-star admiral and the first woman to be appointed to the position of vice chief of naval operations (the second highest rank in the Navy). She was also the first African-American woman to reach the rank of three-star and four stars in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces and the first African-American woman to command a ship in the Navy. A veteran of operations that included NATO peacekeeping, Indonesia tsunami relief, Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, she was thrust into the international spotlight in 2009 as leader of the counter-piracy task force that rescued civilian Captain Richard Phillips from Somali pirates.
