Senior Dane DeVries is now one of 300 semi-finalists in line for the prestigious Boettcher Scholarship. Out of the initial pool of around 1700 applicants, the field is first narrowed down to 300 semi-finalists, then 100 finalists. From this group, 50 students will be awarded the Boettcher Scholarship, which will grant a full ride to any four year college within Colorado.
The Boettcher Foundation - a non-profit dedicated to keeping Colorado's most dynamic thinkers, doers, and difference makers within the state - looks for candidates with superior scholastic ability and intellectual curiosity, evidence of leadership and involvement, service to community and school, and outstanding character.
"Dane is a strong representation of what it means to be a Pirate." Superintendent Danielle Van Esselstine said. " We are extremely proud of Dane and his accomplishments. We can't wait to see him in the finals!"
